New Peterson Metra Stop Gets $15M In State Budget But Wheels Not Moving Yet

Five years after a new Metra stop in Edgewater was announced, the state budget includes some "potentially very good news" for Far North Side commuters — $15 million for the long-awaited stop.

The project had been funded through the Build Illinois Bond Fund, but put on hold and de-funded during the budget impasse that began in 2015.

Edgewater Bike Lane That Goes Against Car Traffic Coming This Week

Glenwood Greenway Reverse Bike Lane

Cyclists on the Far North Side will have a slower-paced, more family-friendly route after a bike lane is installed on Glenwood Avenue this week.

Dubbed the "Glenwood Greenway," the route takes southbound cyclists from Ridge Avenue to just past Foster Avenue via Glenwood Avenue, a one-way northbound street.

Beginning Tuesday, if weather permits, crews will be out painting the green lane, adding signs and shifting around a few parking spaces, 48th Ward Ald. Harry Osterman told residents in an email last week.
