Many people are more familiar with a style of living that tends to isolate them from others. "I mind my business and you mind yours." But at some point, it does take contributions from all involved parties. This does not go against the principle of "privacy." There are many ways of contributing without giving up our individual “sense of space.” Some people are good at observation, and can remember details to a fault. Other people have ideas about how to settle disputes in ways that benefit everyone. And still others have the knack of seeing challenges from different perspectives.
